Maintenance of premises and equipment

The purpose of continuous cleaning and disinfection is to destroy infectious agents released into the environment by the sick person or vector.

  • Facilities and other equipment must be kept clean. There must be no visible mould on the walls and ceilings of the premises.
  • Any defects in the walls, ceilings, floors, equipment or furnishings that may affect children’s health and safety during use of the premises shall be repaired immediately.
  • Inventory must be maintained and cleaned daily, wet and as needed to ensure cleanliness.
  • Pest control must be carried out in accordance with Order No V-55 of 2 February 2009 “On the Approval of the Description of the Procedure for the Mandatory Preventive Removal of Environmental Nuisances (Disinfection, Disinsection, Deratisation)”.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting agents must be used as intended and kept out of the reach of children.
  • Toilet cleaning equipment must be labelled and stored separately from other cleaning equipment.
  • Sanitary facilities (toilets, washbasins, etc.) must be in good working order and clean at all times.
  • In pre-schools, each child attending a group must be provided with a towel or disposable towels may be used.
  • Bed linen and towels (if not disposable) are changed after they have been soiled, but at least once every two weeks in day groups. It is forbidden to pass on items used by one child to another child without washing them.
  • All measures for a single child must bear the same mark or number.
  • In the canteen, tables, slats, plastic tablecloths shall be wiped after each meal with a clean cloth moistened with a solution of household disinfectant for cleaning/sanitising surfaces.
  • Toys are cleaned and disinfected 2 times a day where children under 3 are educated, and at the end of the day elsewhere. Hard, small toys are washed in a solution of hot water and soap or 2% baking soda, then rinsed in running hot water. Large toys that cannot be washed shall be wiped with a clean disposable cloth moistened with a 2% solution of drinking soda. Soft toys, carpets and other soft objects shall not be used in case of illness or shall be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner or brush moistened with a solution of household disinfectant.
