Children’s tourism events

The description of the organisation of children’s tourism events lays down the procedure for organising children’s tourism events (hikes, trips, excursions, rallies, competitions).

The Regulations shall apply to all formal and non-formal children’s education schools and other education providers organising and conducting tourism events for children up to the age of 18 years inclusive in the territory of the Republic of Lithuania.

Excursion – a visit of less than a day to a tourist site along a fixed route for educational purposes, conducted by a guide or teacher.

A guide is a person who provides special information about the museums, art galleries, natural, cultural, scientific, exhibition or other sites or places visited.

A field trip – organised transport for groups of children to a designated tourist attraction.

A “gathering” is an organised gathering of children in a natural environment (campsite) for recreational or educational purposes.

Tourism event manager – a person with appropriate training who organises, prepares for and manages a tourism event.

Tourist camp – short-term recreational activities for children in a campsite in a recreational area.

Children’s tourism event – a short-term non-formal education programme for children (which may be part of a formal and non-formal education programme), involving a change of location for educational, recreational and sporting purposes.

Competition – Organised competition between children (groups of children) for educational purposes.

Hike – an organised journey of varying duration for educational purposes along a specified route on foot or by various means.
